Characteristics

You might see the following characteristics in members struggling in this area:

  • Lacks time management
  • Lacks a defined place to study or do school work
  • Personal spaces are cluttered
  • Tardiness or misses appointments
  • Lacks the ability to prioritize items or make a to-do list
  • Does not make the best use of ones time
  • Lacks focus or goals
  • Procrastination

Action Steps

Below are action items that can benefit members struggling in this area:

  • Develop SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely)
  • Identify a study space that is free of distractions
  • Develop a weekly schedule to help manage your time and prioritize your tasks
  • Utilize the student success center or student learning center on campus where you can attend mini-sessions to develop better study skills, organization, note taking skills, etc
  • Write it down: make a To-Do list
  • Set a time frame in which to accomplish a task and set reminders so you meet this task
  • Combined similar activities together
  • Avoid activity overload
