A New Perspective

Just 48 hours ago, I was sitting in the Cleveland airport waiting to get on my hour and a half flight to Atlanta, Georgia. Honestly, I had no idea what I was in for this weekend. All I knew was one thing – the itinerary I received had me going since the minute I stepped off the plane. In April of this year, I was approved to be the Chapter Adviser for the Beta Upsilon chapter of Phi Mu at Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. For those reading this that have no idea where I’m talking about, don’t worry, you’re not the only ones. New Wilmington is a two stoplight borough about an hour north of Pittsburgh. We have horse and buggies, everyone lives on campus, and the closest food (besides the dining hall) is the Sheetz gas station fifteen minutes away.

So, when I stepped off the plane in ATL airport and walked to the hotel shuttle, I was overwhelmed. Not because the people around me weren’t small town people, but because as soon as I stepped on that bus, I felt like I was back at home. The first lovely lady I met was Monique. She just took over the Chapter Adviser position for Kappa Rho at Florida Atlantic University, Phew. My learning began. Someone I just met was telling me about areas she in which she wanted training, and they were the same things I was hoping for!

Needless to say, I was relieved!
