There are so many new things to be excited about when it’s time to go to college. Football games, new friends, trendy restaurants and interesting classes are a few that top the list. But something that is taking college campuses by storm is the opportunity to study abroad. At the University of Minnesota, women are taking advantage of this unique experience by traveling all around the world and sharing their experiences with their chapter members back in the United States at an event called International Night.
Hosted by Zeta Eta’s Academic Excellence Chairmen Bri Lundgren, International Night is an opportunity for not only women who have been abroad but also current chapter members who are in other countries to share their favorite travel memories, the ins and outs of planning a trip, and the best resources they used along the way. Each presenter had the opportunity to share a little about their program specifics, how to apply, financial information and their favorite parts of their trips. Some of the countries included South Korea, France, Germany and Argentina. Accompanied by photos, the women also prepared a traditional snack from their respective countries.
Another special highlight of the night was having chapter member Josie Collet present about her time in America. Josie is studying abroad in America from London, England and the University of York. She joined Zeta Eta in the fall. Josie is an outstanding member and will be missed when she returns to London after the 2017-2018 academic year!
Overall, International Night was a great success with the chapter! It is evident that studying abroad has played an integral role in shaping the experience of many chapter members. If you are interested in taking advantage of a study abroad program at your university, look into all your campus resources! So many great adventures await!
