My Real Life Dream Job as a Phi Mu CC

Sierra Lee, Rho Alpha – Traveling Chapter Consultant

As I watch a beautiful sunrise on an early flight after an operations visit, I reflect on the past year. Exactly one year ago I was filling out the application to be a Chapter Consultant, and now that dream has become my reality. My name is Sierra Lee, and I am a Chapter Consultant from the Rho Alpha Chapter at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis. Phi Mu transformed my college experience and shaped me into the woman I am today and now I have the opportunity to see how this organization impacts the lives of sisters across the country.

I always looked forward to Chapter Consultants visiting my collegiate chapter. They brought different perspectives, shared new ideas, and empowered our members to be confident in themselves. These women served as mentors to many and sisters to all; their service to others and to the Fraternity inspired me to apply to be a #PhiMuCC. They continue to impact my life due to the special bond between the present and past consultants. I love hearing their stories and receiving advice that I can apply to this role. In addition, one of the best parts of this job is the team you get to be a part of and the staff who support you. They provide valuable resources, laughs during difficult times and endless love and encouragement.

This position is unlike any other job, with your duties reflecting the chapters’ varying needs. Each meeting, day, chapter and university is different and brings excitement to every day. During recruitment season, I attended workshops, facilitated presentations on various topics, assisted with recruitment logistics, and provided any support and guidance needed during a busy time for every chapter. As a past Membership Director, I love how recruitment brings us together to work towards a common goal, which I saw in every group I visited.

Currently, I am conducting operations visits where I meet with officers to help them plan for their positions, provide resources to help them succeed, conduct focus groups on their Phi Mu experience, and facilitate programs on topics such as chapter identity and values. No matter the visit type, Phi Mu chapters across America invite me into their homes, show me their love for each other, and inspire me to be the best Consultant I can be. Each sister I meet, whether they are a Phi, collegian, or alumna, becomes a part of my Phi Mu story.

I dreamed of becoming a Chapter Consultant for years as a collegian, and I cannot thank Phi Mu enough for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. This experience has given me the chance to meet women making a difference in their chapters, community, and the world. Being a Chapter Consultant has been a life-changing experience for me, and it can be for you too. “A little step may be the beginning of a great journey.”
