Chapter of the Month: Phi Theta – Towson University

There are 138 collegiate Phi Mu chapters, and each one is unique! While each campus cultivates a different Phi Mu experience, every member shares a bond with her sisters in her values of love, honor and truth.

Each month a chapter will be profiled to allow everyone in Phi Mu world to learn more about their sisters from other chapters.

Chapter: Phi Theta

School: Towson University

Year Founded: 1992

Chapter Size: 117 members

Describe a successful Sisterhood Event: One of our most popular sisterhood events was at Sky Zone trampoline park. This event was held the weekend after bid day so it provided a fun, stress-free way for all members to meet and get to know the new Phis as well as unwind and destress from formal recruitment.

Describe a successful chapter-hosted Philanthropy Event: Twice a month we go to the Believe in Tomorrow House at the John’s Hopkins Children’s Hospital to make dinner for the families staying there. We try to have activities planned around the holidays, and invite along other sorority and fraternities on campus to come as well.

Popular Social Function Theme: Date night is one of our chapter’s favorite social functions. Who doesn’t love an excuse to dress up for a fun night out?

Fun Fact: Phi Theta loves Headquarters! We have had many members go on to work for Phi Mu headquarters in the past, including Director or Administration Hara Henshell, and several chapter consultants in recent years.

Any other info you would like to include: We recently celebrated our 25th anniversary as a chapter in 2017. It was a huge success with a large turnout of alumnae — including some of our charter members! It was a great opportunity to catch up with recently graduated sisters as well as meet and learn from those members who started our chapter, and celebrate all that we have accomplished as Phi Theta.
