Chapter of the Month: Rho Gamma – Ball State University

There are 137 collegiate Phi Mu chapters, and each one is unique! While each campus cultivates a different Phi Mu experience, every member shares a bond with her sisters in her values of love, honor and truth.

Each month a chapter will be profiled to allow everyone in Phi Mu world to learn more about their sisters from other chapters.

Chapter: Rho Gamma

School: Ball State University

Year Founded: 1990

Chapter Size: 105

Describe a successful Sisterhood Event: A successful sisterhood event in our chapter is our sisterhood retreat that we hold each semester! For our last retreat, we took a trip together as a chapter to the Indianapolis Zoo. This was a great time for sisters to connect while hanging out at the zoo. The sisterhood retreat is always one of our popular events and many sisters are able to create new bonds with each other.

Describe a successful chapter-hosted Philanthropy Event: Our annual all-you-can-eat breakfast event, Phi Hop is always a very popular event. This year we partnered with a campus fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega to help make our event as successful as it could be! All of the proceeds raised from Phi Hop helped benefit Riley Hospital for Children and Mental Health America, our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. During our event, Rho Gamma chapter members worked together to serve our community and to give everyone a relaxing afternoon filled with good food! We cannot wait to see what we can do next year with Phi Hop and will continue to raise funds and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Popular Social Function Theme: A popular social function in our chapter was our Super Bowl party we held this year! We paired with another organization, wore jerseys and had a potluck while we watched the Super Bowl. It was a fun time where we could all eat, relax, and watch football!

Fun Fact: We brought Dance Marathon to Ball State University. It became a very popular event that grew into its own organization here at Ball State. The past two years Phi Mu has been the top fundraising team for fraternity/sorority groups, raising over $10,000!
