2020 has been unprecedented for everyone but imagine how challenging it has been for the pediatric patients and their families at CMN Hospitals. With COVID-19 restrictions in place, patients are even more limited in their opportunities to see their loved ones and participate in activities outside of their rooms. Phi Mus have stepped up to spread joy this holiday season, beginning with Halloween and YOU can help us continue to bring holiday cheer through Miracle Market. Read more about Phi Mu’s efforts and how your gifts will make a difference.
Sharing Treats, Not Tricks, This Halloween
Last month, we highlighted the Memphis Area Alumnae Chapter’s continued commitment to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis. Members partnered with the Kappa Lambda Chapter at the University of Memphis to participate in Le Bonheur’s annual pumpkin run. They also supported the hospital’s reverse trick-or-treating event by filling Pumpkin Totes with books, stickers, games and candy.
Additionally, Phi Mus across the country came together in October to support a reverse trick-or-treating event at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore. We raised over $2,600 to help the hospital deliver Halloween treats to every patient room.
Help Us Spread Holiday Cheer
In 2018, Phi Mu launched our annual Miracle Market event and over the past two years, our members and friends of Phi Mu have donated more than 2,000 gifts worth nearly $20,000 for pediatric patients at CMN Hospitals. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s Miracle Market will look different but our goal remains the same: to bring compassion, creativity, connection and companionship to patients at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
This year, CMN Hospitals identified not one but four hospitals in need of our support, starting with Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, which Phi Mu supported at Halloween. As we head into the winter holiday season, we are raising $17,500 for three additional CMN Hospitals: James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital, MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. We need YOUR help to reach our goal. Here’s what you’ll be supporting:
James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital, in Greenville, N.C., needs $5,000 to purchase stationary and hand-held game consoles for each patient room.
MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, in Charleston, S.C., needs $5,000 to deliver a teddy bear to each patient and provide festive decorations for the Oncology and Blood Disorders Unit.
Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, in Richmond, Va., needs $7,500 to support the diversification of their library and provide hygiene kits to families.
Join us in spreading some joy this holiday season to children at these CMN Hospitals! All gifts are tax-deductible and will count toward Phi Mu’s commitment to raise $10 million for CMN Hospitals by 2023.
